Background & Objectives: Visual acuity has an important role in the elderly’s communication with the environment. Cataract is a major cause of reduced visual acuity in the elderly, which can be treated only through surgery. Like in any other surgery, the elderly who should undergo cataract surgery experience a lot of anxiety. Relaxation techniques are of the procedures that can lead to stress reduction and create comfort and relaxated people. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the effect of guided imagery on pre-operation anxiety and hemodynamic factors in the elderly undergoing cataract surgery.
Materials & Methods: The present randomized clinical trial recruited 50 elderly patients undergoing cataract surgery who met the inclusion criteria in the period of August to December 2014 through purposive sampling from patients at Vasei Hospital in Sabzevar, Iran, and randomly assigned them to the case and control groups. The control group received routine care and the case group received guided imagery using an audio file. Spielberger’s anxiety inventory and checklist of physiological changes were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using statistical tests by SPSS 16 software at a desirable significance level, independent t tests, chi-square test, fisher exact test and ANOVA.
Result: The mean of hemodynamic factors did not significantly differ in the two groups before intervention (p>0.05), but significantly reduced systole blood pressure (p<0.001), diastole blood pressure (p<0.01) and respiration (p<0.001).
Conclusion: Guided imagery can effectively reduce physiological responses of anxiety before surgery in the elderly. Hence, it is suggested that clinical nurses and nursing students use it for better nursing services.

Background & Objectives: People with disabilities are increasing in the world; so recognizing attitude of the society about disability is necessary. Since this attitude is important, having appropriate tools for its measuring is essential. This study was aimed to investigate psychometric properties of a measuring scale of attitudes toward people with disabilities.
Materials & Methods: This is a non-experimental study, in which scale of attitudes toward people with disabilities (ATDP) was translated, equivalent and normalized. Data collection tool was ATDP Scale. English version of the questionnaire in two stages was translated in Persian by three translators whose native language was Persian and they had experience and proficiency in the English translation, then translated back. Scale reliability was investigated test- the test within three weeks. ICC and SEM indices were used for evaluating the relative and absolute repeatability and Cronbach's alpha was used for coefficient to evaluate reproducibility of scale scores. For content validity, qualitative method of content validity was used. The translated text was sent to ten experts and their comments were taken.
Results: The results showed that the translators were agreed in the overall quality of the translation (90%), in the same concept (93.3%), in the transparency (96.7%) and in the common language translator (96.7%). All scales of the questionnaire were showed good stability (Cronbach= 0.85, Icc= 0.75 and r= 0.70).
Conclusion: The study showed that the Persian version of the ATDP scale has reliability and validity for measuring attitudes toward people with disabilities in society.

Background Suicide is one of the important health problems. In Iran, like most countries in the world, suicide has considerably increased in recent decades and its reduction is one of the key goals of the health system. This study aimed to identify the risk factors for suicide to provide appropriate strategies and planning of practitioners for better prevention and treatment of people at risk. Methods & Materials This is a desriptive correlational study. The study population comprised all suicide attempts in 2011. To this end, 545 records were examined in proportional stratified manner. The device of collecting data was a checklist, including age, sex, history of suicide attempt, etc. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive tests using SPSS19.Results Based on the results, 36.7% of the subjects who attempted sucide were men and 63.3% were women. The majority of suicide attempters were single (53.9%), aged 14-24 years (54.9%) and were city residents (90.1%). Suicide rates were highest in winter (30.6%). Among suicide attempters, 74.3% had used drugs. The most common reasons of attempting for suicide among married persons were marital problems. Conclusion According to the findings, promotion of healthy marriage, premarital consultation, social and mental support with regard to social problems, promotion of correct urbanization culture, correct use of medication, expansion of hope and recreation among people, especially the young could be helpful and instrumental in prevention of Suicide.

Background Considering patient’s experiences about non clinical aspect of health care services is now seen as a key characteristic of an effective health system. This study looks into the Responsiveness in Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences, 2015.Methods & Materials In this cross-sectional and explanatory study, 189 hospitalized patients in Vasai hospital were selected using a stratified and simple random sampling. Standard Responsiveness Questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests and ANOVA by SPSS 16 at a significance level of 0.05.Results Access to the social support during hospitalization achieved the highest score while patient autonomy received the least score. There was a significant relationship between Access to the social support and patient’ gender (P≤0.05). Results showed significant differences between wards in this hospital and Access to the social support and Quality of basic amenities (P≤0.05). From patient view point the total score for this hospital was (2.43±0.60) that showed the moderate level of responsiveness. Conclusion More than ever trying to institutionalize the principle of responsiveness culture in this kind of training educational hospital should be regarded. In this way it could be helpful to design a new scientific approach to implement and evaluate responsiveness in hospital regularly. It also would be an effective way to design suitable guideline and checklist along with improve clinical governance and clinical audit

Background & Objectives: Vertebroplasty is a new and effective treatment for strengthening broken vertebra and reducing the pain arisen from osteoporotic fractures. This study was performed to determine the pain reduction effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty with calcium phosphate in traumatic vertebral fractures in patients attending to Laleh, Mehrad and Booali Hospitals in 2012. Materials & Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 18 patients with traumatic fractures in Laleh, Mehrdad and Bu Ali hospitals were studied during the year 2012. The method of purposeful non-probability sampling was used and ethical issues were carefully considered. Pain intensity were determined and compared based on Visual Analog Scale in 3 phases; before and immediately after percutaneous surgery and vertebroplasty with calcium carbonate, and 6 months later. The data were analyzed using SPSS software and descriptive statistic method. Results: In this study, at first, the mean preoperative VAS was 8.2 that, subsequently, decreased to 1.68 and zero. Comparison of preoperative and postoperative pain severities demonstrated that 79.6% reduction was observed in the pain and later this amount was increased to 100%. Overly, there was not a relationship between changes in VAS and variables such as leakage in patients, age, calcium carbonate amount, gender and level of involvement. Conclusions: It may be concluded that percutaneous vertebroplasty with calcium phosphate is effective in patients with traumatic vertebral fractures. Choosing the right patient, precise needle placement with fluoroscopic guide, timely injection of cement and experience play key roles in the success of this method.

Background: Elderly patient's length of stay in hospitals is very important and similar research is low. This study was aim to determine the factors affecting on length of stay of hospitalized elderly Vaseie hospital in Sabzevar (2014) using numerical regression models. Materials: This study was a cross-sectional study for modeling of length of stay in elderly patients in Vaseie hospital during second 6 months of 1392 in Sabzevar. 3330 elderly were selected using convenient sampling and the amount of length of stay was considered as the response variable and demographic variables as independent variables. Count regression models were used to analyze the data at a significant level of 0.05 using SAS software (version 9.2). Result: The mean age was 74/2 ± 8/4, 50/3% were male and mean length of stay of elderly patients was 4/8 ± 3/5 days. Also according to the regression model, there was not a statistically significant relationship between length of stay with sex, but relationship between age with length of stay was statistically significant (P= 0/008). So that the number of hospitalization days were increased approximately one day for one-year increase in age. Conclusion: Since the hospitalization stay is a count variable, count regression models introduced in this study are functional and very suitable statistical models and recommend for similar cases.
